Star Wars expands Cal Kestis’ story with Star Wars Jedi Battle Scars & The Art of Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Two new books have been published that will give more insight into the history and development of Cal Kestis.

It’s fair to say that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has become one of the most popular Star Wars games since its release, at least among the ones released after 2015. It might not be a masterpiece but it’s still a good game with fun gameplay, an interesting story, and relatable characters.

Despite the fact that at the end of the game, it’s clear that there’s a task for Cal and the rest of his crew, I wasn’t sure about it getting a sequel. It wouldn’t be the first time that the possibility of a sequel to a well-received game would be discarded.

In 2022, two big products related to Jedi: Fallen Order were released; the Cal Kestis Legacy Lightsaber that’s being sold at Disney Parks and the BD-1 LEGO set. I was very surprised when both of them were announced, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but I thought they were just more products that Disney would use to get our money.

The trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released earlier this year. Everyone who saw it was eager for a sequel. Although the trailer was very impressive, it was vague and didn’t give too many details. I believed that the next time we were going to hear about it would be close to its release date but I’m glad to say that I was wrong.

It’s now clear that Disney and Lucasfilm are invested in Cal Kestis’ story and those are wonderful news. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order) is an action-adventure adventure that takes us on a new epic adventure through Cal Kestis’ perspective as a young Jedi who survived Order 66.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor it’s going to take place five years after the events of Fallen Order so there’s no doubt that Cal is going to be a more developed character. This adventure will provide more planets to explore, more enemies, and more difficult choices for young Jedi.

Time skips in Star Wars usually leave many details in the dark but this time it appears that they’re addressing that “issue”A new book can be ordered immediately. Release of Jedi: Battle Scars, written by Sam Maggs and published by Del Rey, will occur on March 7, 2023.

Jedi: Battle Scars was announced by Jedi Fallen Order (Jedi Survivor) as a tie-in novel. We don’t know the details about what happened with Cere Junda, Greez Dritus, or Nightsister Merrin in those five years but from this tweet, we can assume that the team is still together and the events of this book will probably give us a lot of context for the game, maybe it’ll even introduce a couple of new characters.

But that’s not all, The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, published by Dark Horse has also been announced. This book will describe the creative process as well as the development of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. It will also include commentary and concept art from the artists.

This book is important so expect a full-color, hardcover. Both covers are still to come.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor

It will be released less than two months after Star Wars Jedi Battle Scars. There are unconfirmed rumors that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will release between March and May, considering the dates of these two new books I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Jedi: Survivor might be available between March 7th and May 2nd of 2023.

Here’s the Jedi Survivor trailer breakdown in case you have to refresh your memory.

What do Jedi: Battle Scars actually look like? Are there any theories about what happened between Fallen Order Survivor and Jedi: Battle Scars?
